Pyroligneous acid, also called wood vinegar or wood acid, is a dark liquid produced through the natural act of carbonization, which occurs when wood is heated in an airless container during charcoal production, such as pyrolysis. Wikipedia
Pyroligneous acid is mainly used in Asia as a natural pesticide and fungicide. It is an all organic liquid that also touts medicinal and health benefits. The Global Health Center touts 19 benefits of the liquid. An even larger scope of possible uses were put together by Wood Vinegar Australia.
The issue with many organic products is the reliable production in quantities. If this really is a game changer in organic farming it would take massive amounts in order to make a serious contribution. While I certainly believe in its qualities, we need to find ways to not only produce it, but also promote it. We know that e coli can be passed through plant root systems, and anything we can do to reduce the use of chemical pesticides and fungicides that plants are absorbing we need to do it.
